the very last post... :(

Hi all! After much deliberation... I have decided to stop the Sunday Style Notes blog and concentrate on my State of Sunday blog which will concentrate on photography moreso than fashion.. Having said that .. my London Fashion Week 2010 photos will also be posted on there :)

the shopping phenomenon

What is it with girls and shopping? Is shopping an addiction? It may well be... first you get the little craving... just a little one in the back of your mind.. no worries.. i can ignore it, i'm stronger than this. After all, it is ME who tells my body what to do and my brain what to think.. I can say "no".. And i'm saying no! Take that!

couple of days later the craving turns into nagging.. you become easily irritable.. nope, totally in control.. i can say "no".. JUST LEAVE ME ALONE ALRIGHT!!!

a week has passed... crisis - "I have nothing to wear! I feel ugly because I have nothing to wear!" The little voice of reason suggests that may be you should pick up your dry cleaning and that would solve the problem.. "Oh SHUT UP!!" Clearly that wont solve anything because I know exactly what I dropped off there last week and its nothing exciting. I feel ugly... like, may be i shouldnt even go outside - thats how ugly i feel right now!

finally you break.. Clutching the credit card I march towards the nearest shopping center. Alas! A sale is on... that definitely helps and makes me feel like I will spend less than I planned. See, I'm not so bad after all!

In the process you find a number of GREAT bargains that are just too good to pass on... You walk out of the store beaming.. clutching the shopping bags (because the credit card is too hot to clutch - its burning you see)...

But regardless - you are happy! You got the hit. You scratched the itch. You are no longer craving. And you are HAPPY! The endorphins are rushing through the brain, the sun is shining - LIFE IS GOOD!

Until next time...

Who said shopping is not an addiction?

p.s. the photo is of me trying this wonderful skirt in the change room - the wonderful skirt that got me thinking :)

Style icon: Julia Restoin-Roitfeld

Julia is another one of my favourite celebrities for style stalking. I like that she doesn't try too hard with her outfits, always looks feminine and has that frenchy chic about her...and of course she is the daughter of french Vogue!

Sydney Fashion Weekend

Last Sunday I made my way to the Sydney Fashion Weekend which is basically RAFW's sidekick for those who are not special enough to score tickets to the actual fashion week. The whole thing was like a huge expo with numerous designer stalls, sample sales, manicures and makeovers. There was a fashion show which was a mix of designs from Lucette, Fleur Wood, Little Joe Woman and a few others... Here are some of my photos from the catwalk...

Olivia Palermo for Vogue

I try to stick with original content for my blog because i think reblogging things found elsewhere on the net is just boring... BUT every now and again if I stumble upon something I love,  I really want to share the love so here it is... I think Olivia Palermo is a great dresser. I have a mild obsession with her style and her hair. Everything she wears looks great and she doesnt always wear high end clothes, but manages to combine the likes of Topshop and Hermes beautifully. She has recently completed a project for Vogue UK where she documented her outfits for the month of April. You can also find photos of Olivia on altamira: models off duty blog!

Random photo..

I was over at Sydney Uni the other day taking photos for the Street Style section of Side Street Sydney. While I was there I also took some photos of the buildings and the beautiful courtyards. When going through the photos on my laptop later that day, I noticed this girl who accidentally ended up in one of the photos, so I blew the photo up and cropped it. I don't know who the girl is (and I hope she doesnt mind me putting this up) but I just love something about this picture...

Roots & Wings Design

every now and again it's nice to get out of Sydney… On this particular Saturday morning we were headed for Berry, a town about 2 hours south of Sydney that also happens to be the definition of cute. We were walking down the main street discussing our recent lack of excitement over shopping in Sydney… when we stumbled upon Roots & Wings. You know those shops that you would describe as a ‘shopping experience’? The ones that have a certain vibe that just makes you want to spend hours in them? Well, Roots & Wings was one of those shops. As we walked in, I felt an instant unexplainable urge to try on EVERYTHING! And what I couldn’t try on, I wanted to touch, sit on, open, or at least take a photo of… :)

Who: Roots & Wings Design
Where: 83 Queen Street, Berry, NSW 2535
What: Ginger & Smart, Camilla and Marc, Lover, Bassike and many more + lots of quirky and cool stuff for your home
Why: because it’s nice to try something different

Fatboye Group Industry Launch

What: Fatboye Group Industry Launch Party
Where: DeNom, Oxford Street, Sydney
When: Thursday, 11 March 2010

It’s always nice to see and celebrate the results of your hard work… It’s even nicer to celebrate them in style and in good company. Last night Fatboye Group did exactly that. Their Industry Launch party at DeNom attracted a huge crowd. Friends, followers, designers and members on the industry joined Kristina, Jane and Nikki in celebrating the success of the Fatboye Group so far, and marked the official beginning of what will hopefully be a long and exciting partnership.
